MS Manor School
About MS Manor
MS Manor is an independent specialist SEMH school which provides support for pupils with additional needs including emotional regulation, social and mental health needs. At MS Manor, we believe every student learns differently. We are a supportive community dedicated to unlocking the unique potential of children with diverse learning needs. Through personalized education and a nurturing environment, we help students build confidence, skills, and a love for learning.
MS Manor is a specialist school for 7-18 year old in the West midlands. The school meets the needs of a diverse group of pupils with Social ASD (Autism Spectrum Disorder) and a range of associated needs.
At MS Manor we are committed to each and every one of our pupils, providing specialist support tailored to each individual’s unique needs and helping all pupils to achieve their full potential. The pupils often come to MS Manor with negative perceptions of the education system, having experienced repeated rejection. We are dedicated to turning their experience of learning into a positive one.
Choosing a school can be a daunting experience. We hope that this website will give you a flavour of what makes MS Manor distinctive and special. Our team work hard to ensure pupils achieve great academic standards, along with providing extra-curricular experiences that support our pupils’ personal and social development.

Our outstanding offer
We foster a love of reading, recognising it as a key to unlocking academic and personal growth. Through initiatives like ’10 at 10’, where pupils dedicate 10 minutes a day to reading, we promote literacy as a vital part of everyday life. Whether focusing on phonics or more advanced reading, we tailor our support to each pupil’s level, helping them develop both functional and creative reading skills. We also take our pupils to the local library and celebrate annual events like Children’s Book Week to further enrich their reading experience. Reading not only enhances academic performance, but also fosters a sense of community as pupils share books and ideas while learning to think critically about the world around them.
Field trips and experiential learning are integrated into our curriculum. We aim to provide children and young people with a portfolio of off-site activities that will give them marketable skills in the workplace, laying the foundation for their future. The Abbeywood Pledge is our commitment to helping pupils develop a portfolio of skills through real-world experiences, preparing them for a smooth transition into the workforce. We ensure that every experience supports pupils’ academic and personal growth. From visiting local sites such as theatres to engaging in hands-on workshops such as music production, this array of experiences is designed to deepen their understanding and allow them to apply their knowledge in meaningful ways.
We follow a topic-based curriculum which helps teaching and learning become more interesting, relevant and motivating. This approach enables pupils to make connections, transfer knowledge and build their understanding and confidence. This has ultimately resulted in continuity, and comprehension of topics being more thorough, whilst pupils are able to apply critical thinking as they identify, categorise, compare and find themes. For example, Year 7 pupils may read How to Train Your Dragon in English, and in their Design Technology (DT) classes they create wooden dragon toys, reinforcing what they’ve learned. This cross-curricular approach helps make learning more cohesive and engaging. The topic-based curriculum sparks conversations and provides pupils with the opportunity to collaborate, share their ideas and take ownership of their learning, resulting in the strong development of knowledge, skills and meaningful learning experiences.
We are committed to offering diverse and enriching learning experiences for all our pupils. Our vocational programmes are designed to include key subjects such as engineering, catering and construction, alongside more creative fields like design and technology, and art. We are particularly focused on enhancing our Key Stage 3 curriculum, where pupils begin to explore these areas early on, laying a strong foundation for future qualifications. One of our key principles is that learning should be tailored to each pupil. Whether they pursue vocational qualifications or academic subjects, we ensure that every young person has the chance to thrive. For example, a pupil might be passionate about engineering or catering, while still working towards GCSE qualifications in English or literature. Our flexible approach allows us to shape learning pathways based on each individual’s needs and interests.
Our on-site Clinical Team provide pupils with unrivalled levels of therapeutic support, in terms of the level of expertise, the ratio of qualified therapists and clinicians to children and young people, and the range of therapies offered. Pupils have the support of our Psychiatrists, Psychologists, Therapists, Speech and Language Therapists, Occupational Therapists and other specialists as required.
We believe that unless a child or young person is able to feel emotionally safe and secure, they are less likely to fulfil their personal, social and educational potential. Our unique approach to supporting young people through our Wave Model enables them to go on to realise a future filled with aspiration and achievement.
Abbeywood School’s Clinical Team complete thorough and skilled assessments that support a shared understanding of the complex needs we see in our children and young people. This enables us to put purposeful and appropriate interventions in place and assess our effectiveness through the tracking of outcomes and impact.
At Haris Manor we are dedicated to raising the aspirations of our pupils, while also equipping them with the skills and confidence to realise outstanding outcomes.
The Futures programme inspires and connects pupils with their next steps beyond education, utilising a growing network of over 350 employer partnerships, including the likes of Microsoft, Mercedes and John Lewis, to provide outstanding experiences of the workplace and ongoing opportunities and support.
Our Futures sessions provide practical guidance on job applications, confidence-building, networking, and workplace expectations, giving children and young people the tools to navigate their career paths with clarity. Complementing this, our Futures curriculum enriches academic growth while developing personal development and career readiness, ensuring they are prepared for their chosen paths. With no upper age limit on support, the programme boasts a 100% success rate in transitioning students into education, employment, or training.
